

The Hue Hub doesn't like a wifi to ethernet connection evidently! Which is a shame, as it enabled me to tidy the hub out of sight to keep cable clutter down! This tip may help others if they have the same issue with connectivity.Within the last years, more and more smart home products came on the market. The solution to this is to connect the Hue Hub to the Velop node which has the incoming internet connection from the router. 90% of the time, I would get 'no response' from the hue system in the iOS Home app, however, in the Hue app I was able to control the lights, but I was 'connected via cloud' rather than directly over wifi (even though the iPhone was connected to the wifi). The Hue Hub was connected into a node in one of the bedrooms. I run a Velop mesh wifi network in our home. However, a way to get it working as expected in iOS Home for all routines would still be the best option! Doing this means that the zone does not show up in HomeKit, and each individual light can still be controlled manually through the iOS Home app. To do this, I turned each level of the stairs and landing into a separate zone. I found a work-around in the Hue app to prevent the need to create a separate room for each sensor.

In some cases, when the sensor is trigged, the light will not turn on (but only for the lights and sensors with multiple routines assigned to them, routines where I have the time set to 'during the day' for 100% brightness, or 'at night' for 50% brightness). After checking that everything is running on the latest version, I recreated the routines in the iOS Home app, but unfortunately, it still does not work as expected.

I have checked that the lights and sensors are running on the latest software version. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. (Hue is a bit limited when it comes to controlling lights with motion sensors, you can only control rooms and not individual lights, and I don’t really want to have to create a separate ‘room’ for each set of stairs!) Especially when I live in a townhouse with a motion sensor on each stairwell. Has anyone else had this problem and come to a solution? I could use the native Hue app, however for simplicity’s sake, I’d rather stick to using iOS Home to manage my automations.

Rebooting my home hubs (Apple TV + HomePod) make no difference. The sensor shows motion detected in the home app, but it does not turn the lights on at all. When set to - motion detected at night only, 50% brightnessīut none of those worked, it seems if the same sensor has to trigger more than one routine (even at specific time intervals), they don’t work at all.When set to - motion detected during the day only, 100% brightness.I originally created two routines for these lights: I have deleted and recreated this routine on multiple occasions and it fails to work. When motion is detected, the lights turn on to the colour and brightness I have set them to, however, the ‘Turn Off After 1 minute’ timer does not work. Here is an example of one of my automation routines: For some reason, although the automation routines have been setup correctly, they do not work as excepted. I have created a couple of automation routines with Philips Hue motion sensors and bulbs.
